Picturing horror, drawing on hope in Ukraine
Drawings by Ukrainian children who have fled the war are a reminder of how their lives have been torn apart by conflict.

“I’m wishing for the war to end.”
Six months since the war escalated in Ukraine, children have seen things no child should see. Their homes have been hit. Their schools have been attacked. Parents and caregivers have been lost. Families are terrified, in shock, and desperate for safety. Daily life has been torn apart.
The story below is based on real drawings by Maxym and other children affected by the war.
